I live in Arkansas, but home to me is California. My generic reaction to the word “home” is that it’s a place where I can be comfortable to do as I please. Home is sanctuary which is something taken away from thousands of people when the earthquakes and tsunamis hit Japan. When I saw those videos, I wondered how those poor people could convince themselves the world was not ending before their eyes. To most of them, it still must feel as if their world has ended. But they are alive and have to continue to survive and hopefully they will see life blossom again soon despite their loss. This is such a small effort on my part to help them out. But together we can make a difference to one or more people. I have chosen to send all proceeds to American Red Cross. Please click HERE to see my art and other artwork that you might find special enough to bid on and hopefully add to your collection. Thanks so much – Erika
“Dreaming Sweet Dreams” 9×12 inches plus white borders watercolor on paper
This is my painting specifically inspired by the Daily Paintworks’s “Help Japan Challenge” Keiko Tanabe’s challenge was paint the first thought that comes to you with the theme “home”.
The glamorous life and times of an artist!
oooh, and this is a big piece too! It would brighten any room!
Wish it were bigger but I was worried about shipping it safely. I might paint bigger version for gallery 🙂 I’d paint big all the time if I had a fairy godmother who’d pay for the after painting expenses wouldn’t you??? :)YES! YES! YES!
Beautiful art sistah and creative writing! loveyaaatebelleee
Beautiful splashy watercolor! You are so sweet and thoughtful :^)
Thank you Ate Belle so happy you keep tabs on me 🙂
Hi Tootsie Roll I learn from the master – YOU! xome
Erika, your watercolor is one of my favorite in the Japan Challenge. Watercolor has always been a challenge for me but you surely have the right touch! Congratulations on your bids!
Carol I’m so pleased you like my painting because I am suck a big fan of your work, especially your sense of color!
I enjoy my watercolors when I can be allowed to be playful. Oftentimes, folks expect to see art done like oils. Thank you for letting me know you like my approach 🙂
I hope we all see more bids, it would be nice to send a nice check toward our cause and every little bit counts!
Oh Erika I think this is my most favorite of your work! Your writing made me cry. I know you painted this cat with the same emotions you wrote this article with. You are so generous with yourself don’t forget to save some of you for yourself now.
Sylvia 🙂 I didn’t mean to make you cry. I must admit I too got a bit choked up when as I read what I was writing. I am so very pleased turned out as I had it painted in my head. I was telling a fellow artist how this feeling of satisfaction is not that easy to come by in my art space.
By the way, I was also telling that same artist that I only used “happy ingredients” to paint the piece. It seems I need to make adjustments on my measurements? 🙂 Thanks so much Sylvia!
You’re in the EBSQ Friday Five!

FABULOUS – reminds me what an exceptional watercolorist you are, Erika. It’s a crime you don’t paint more watercolors, all the time!!! Cause you are amazing! Love ya, RoseAnn
ROSEANN!!!!!!! I’ve missed you! I was just thinking about how you and I tend to have similar painting styles! I am back to painting watercolors! YAY!
