My favorite cuisine is Japanese food. I also enjoy the culture very much. In 2004 my dear husband let me tag along on one of his business trips to Japan and I had a ball!!! It was the best sushi I’ve EVER experienced – of course! I had so much fun that I created a web page for it when we got home 🙂 Click here to see if you’re interested Our Trip to Tokyo
I’m thrilled that my one and only figure sculpture won an award in the recent EBSQ show “Figure in 3D” yay!
Last week I was so thrilled to get out of bed and not rush to put socks and shoes on! In fact I was so happy I decided to grill a salmon fillet and serve it with green beans and roast pine nuts and washed it down with bottle of Snapple Asian Pear, it was a perfect lunch out on the deck. Today however was another cold day. We were supposed to have snow so I was pleased to not wake up to another winter wonderland!
Beautiful sushi painting! I too love sushi, not the California roll, but eel, salmon skin rolls and the like!
Great sushi plate! You must love spicy food if you like wasabi so much. Glad to know that you had a wonderful time in Japan. It’s alarming to know that it took you 2 hours from Narita to Tokyo. I always depend on that bus service to Haneda for my connecting flight.
Gail, I will eat eel sometimes, it just tastes a little salty for me. Salmon skin “hand” rolls are bigger and practically a nice light meal with about 3 bites of rice, ample salmon and some kinda sprouts they put in, huh? Man, I’m hungry now 🙂
Akiko thank you! I love wasabi and I also love horseradish, just certain spices. I don’t tolerate some Vietnamese, Thai or Mexican spices as well though oddly enough.
So 2 hours is unusual? Maybe it was the season, it was March and spring time. Maybe it was a tourist season? Thankfully, return trip to airport, my husband’s client drove us from the hotel.
Great painting. I like how you used hand thrown pottery as the plate. That’s flying fish roe on top.
hugs!
OK, now I’ve got to do the sushi challenge. I’ve been playing catch-up all week…did my Botkin challenge today, after polishing my 3 new pastel paintings yesterday-so I can get slides by Monday-so I can get them entered by thursday-have to do some real estate tomorrow- aargh.
loved the Japan trip. read every word!
Bless you Sheila for recognizing that it’s thrown pottery. I was wondering if people would think I just don’t know my ellipses lol Flying fish roe yummy even if I don’t really taste them once I eat lol
Red good luck on the show is it your first national? Ok let me see your sooooosheeeeeeee
Great looking sushi painting, Erika!Love the strong colors. That orange background and green serving pottery really work together super.
I agree with Dean – I just love the beautiful warm colors in your sushi painting!
Great job!!
I’m sure you will understand when I tell you that I love your salmon composition as much as the sushi one! Drooling over both…
Sushi and Salmon looks yummy.
I like the shushi plate. Is this a hand made plate?
I still keep them when the kids were younger.
Beautiful job with the challenge, Erika. I love the set up you created with the pottery and the colors you chose are wonderful too.
